Cheney is acting as if he is outside the constitution and above the law. He has been acting that way for quite a while now. When a public official abuses the public trust and refuses any oversight, it's time for the other branches of government to do what they can to rein him in. Especially when the man has revealed himself to be a blithering incompetent.

Arguing that the VP belongs to the legislative branch either looks like desperation or a Constitutional illiteracy that should disturb everyone, not just Democrats.

However -- and here's where the claim that Cheney is really a legislative official creates problems for the White House -- it seems pretty clear that the President isn't allowed to delegate executive power to a legislative official, as that would be a separation of powers violation. So to the extent that this is what's going on, the "Cheney is a legislative official" argument is one that opens a big can of worms.

Cheney MUST be Impeached

Before dismissing me as some fringe loony-leftist pinko commie bastard, I would like to say just one thing: I didn't want to do this. As much as I believe that both Dick Cheney and President Bush have broke many laws (wiretapping, torture, signing statements, etc) I did not believe that impeachment was in the best interest of this country. After all we are still fighting the war in Iraq, the war in Afganistan, and the "Global War on Terror". At the same time we must improve homeland security, pass immigration reform, do something about the health care system, address global warming, ween ourselves off of foreign oil, save the Social Security program, well you get the point. However, now I, and hopefully many of you reading this blog have witnessed the straw that broke the camels back. Cheney has declared himself to be the fourth branch of the United States government. Apparently he does not have to follow President Bushs executive order because he is above the law. I am beginning this site to assemble the case against Vice President Cheney. I will be going back to the beginning of this administration to build an indestructible case that Cheney should be impeached. Please send me emails to add to the case, articles and links would be very much appreciated. I am now convinced that Cheney has done what no terrorist could, destroyed our democracy.
